This bright and pretty Handmade quilt will appeal to all horse lovers, young and old. Purebred is the name of the fabric collection. This is brand new and just released by Erin Michael for Moda. Horses and horseshoes in shades of green, coral, red, gray and a little blue are among paint by number scenes. Paint pots in all the colors are mixed in, as well as beautiful florals. It's an interesting quilt to look at…lots going on!
Pieced in a scrappy patchwork pattern, all the prints and colors flow together. I used a pattern called Labyrinth by Carlene Westberg Designs. The quilt measures 41 x 49"……this is great to use in a baby's nursery, tossed across a chair or couch, used as a table topper, or in any room to add color and horses!
I machine quilted the quilt with Warm and White cotton batting and stitched in a free motion, all over loopy, swirly design with light gray thread. The backing is a tone on tone gray polka dot which compliments the front nicely. I made the red binding double, stitched it to the front of the quilt, then turned it to the back and hand stitched it down to finish. This is the traditional way of finishing a quilt.
I make all my quilts to be used and loved and when washing becomes necessary, this can be done easily at home. Use cold water in the machine with a gentle cycle. Drying can be done in the dryer on a low setting, laid flat, or hung to dry.
This quilt will add instant color to any room it is used in. It will also be the hit of a baby shower. Any new mom and her new horse lover will love this quilt!
